5-4-3-2-1... Thunderbirds are go - and they've been going an incredible 50 years.
It's been an entire half-century since the Tracy brothers, their father Jeff, eccentric inventor Brains, and - of course - Lady Penelope and Parker first hit our screens, with the first episode of Thunderbirds transmitting on September 30, 1965.
But for kids, it wasn't the characters that were the real stars of the show - it was those incredible ships that gave the show its name. Everyone's got a favourite - and now we're asking you to pick yours.
The rules are simple: make your pick from the classic fleet, Thunderbirds 1-5. No pod vehicles, no Fab 1 and certainly no Thunderbird 6. Go!
To celebrate the Blu-ray release of 1966’s Thunderbirds Are Go and its 1968 follow-up Thunderbird 6 – both of which were released in the UK this past Monday – we’ve got three copies to give away to our readers courtesy of the lovely people at Fabulous Films and Fremantle Media Enterprises. Read on for details of how to enter…
Thunderbirds Are Go – John Tracy, former astronaut and billionaire industrialist, decides to use his wealth to help the world by creating “International Rescue”, a secret force of super vehicles designed by an in-house genius known simply as “Brains” and manned by his sons, each a superb athlete and trained expert in their fields.
Thunderbird 6 – The brainchild of Brains, Skyship One is a futuristic airship on the frontline of International Rescue’s crime control. But when it’s hijacked by terrorists, only a battered old Tiger Moth plane can help them save the day. »
