While filming 'Meri Bindoo', the usual choreographer was not present. Kishore Kumar volunteered and the whole cast was briefed with the lyrics. He began dancing, mostly silly actions according to the lyrics and instructed rest to follow him. The following sequence is considered to be one of the most funny music videos in Indian Cinema.
For playing role of Vidyapati, Producer of the movie Mehmood convinced kishore kumar by following him for one month as Kumar was not interested to do acting that time, however he agreed after Mehmood spend a whole night in front of his house asking him to do the role.
Sunil Dutt and Mehmood feared getting overshadowed by Kishore Kumar as his character was getting more cheers then two leading characters in early screening of the movie, therefore Mehmood cut down some of Kumar's scene to tone it down a bit, however once the movie was released Kumar's character was most loved by the audience.
This was Mahmood Productions first film or as they chose to describe it in the credits, their "First Ambitious Motion Picture". The voice that speaks over the Mahmood Productions logo says, in Hindi, "Every ship does reach the shore. Those who have no oarsman, receive God's help".
Guru had agreed to do the film but passed away while the paper work was being done. Mehmood was not sure if Sunil Dutt would agree to the film. But after hearing the script he was very happy.
