Did You Know?

Trivia:
According to a 1968 interview with Robert B. Sherman, the film was originally intended to be 156 minutes, but the studio cut the film to 110 minutes after Radio City Music Hall requested it. The cuts consisted of two songs and a good deal of character motivation. The same fate befell two of the Sherman Brothers' other Disney live-action musicals, The Happiest Millionaire (1967) and Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971). Sherman said he felt the studio "acted like horses' asses" over the running time.See more »
Goofs:
Anachronisms: This movie features many quality songs with big band jazz as the music, however big band jazz did not exist until the late 1930's - early 1940's. Jazz itself did not appear on the scene until the 1900's, and this movie is set in 1888.See more »

Electoral College, 1 August 2006
Author: RepMaj04 from United States

I saw this movie as a kid, when it premiered. In fact, I saw it every Saturday while it ran. This is where I first learned of the Electoral College. However, the movie has been chopped up since then. A lot of good musical numbers are missing. I can't find the original length version anywhere, and that's a shame because a lot of people are missing a considerable portion of the movie.

I wonder if Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn even noticed each other on the set? Leslie Ann Warren and Goldie Hawn were fresh, and at their best! Too bad Walt had to go. Michael Eisner will never come close to the magic of those classic Disney days.
