Storyline

The Pink Panther joins the U.S. Army and goes to boot camp, where he unwittingly causes no end of trouble for a short, pointy-nosed drill Sergeant. Before long, the Sergeant is plotting to do away with the Pink Panther. He tries to trap the panther in a mine field, only to become trapped himself. He orders the Pink Panther to dig a hole in the middle of a grenade testing area and throws a grenade in, but the Pink Panther uses his shovel to hit it back baseball-style, and it rolls into the house of the camp mascot- a short-tempered bulldog- and explodes. The bulldog chases the Sergeant into the obstacle course the Sergeant had intended for the panther. The Sergeant next mails the Pink Panther to the Navy, who sends the panther back. So, the Sergeant runs off to join the Navy. Written by Kevin McCorry <mmccorry@nb.sympatico.ca>

Predictable, But Still Funny
29 April 2007 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

The Pink Panther in the Army? Yup, it's true, and he's a one-man disaster as you might guess.

After seeing a recruiting billboard, the Panther signs up and soon we see him being barked at by the "little white man" drill sergeant. You just know that guy is going to be the foil here, and he is - in a big way. That poor sergeant gets shot and blasted so many times, I lost count. He also gets thrown in the guard house and is beaten several times. All of this is because of the Panther's typical inadvertent blunders.

However, in no place does the poor man suffer more than in the obstacle course! That, the grenade practice and the mine fields all made for good slapstick laughs. A fun cartoon overall.
