Eight episodes of the series were twinned to make four feature-length films: Journey Into Darkness (1968) ("The New People" and "Paper Dolls"), Journey to Midnight (1968) ("Poor Butterfly" and "The Indian Spirit Guide"), Journey to the Unknown (1969) ("Matakitas Is Coming" and "The Last Visitor") and Journey to Murder (1971) ("Do Me a Favor - Kill Me!" and "The Killing Bottle").

These days its lucky to get 13 episodes a year of favourite shows, so by modern standards the production schedule of Journey to the Unknown could be considered tight and hectic...given the green light in the May of 68,worked started in the July, screenings started in the September and filming had been completed by the October.

Along with a Pan Am commercial the pop hit for the band 10cc 'I'm Mandy Fly Me' was thought to have also been inspired by the episode 'One on an Island'.
