It's amazing how well they combine styles as opposing such as John Wayne and Kirk Douglas. Wayne is so sober should not do grace, but makes; and Douglas has an aspect inappropriate and a extravagant costumes in most of the characters that has done, and yet Always ends gaining.
The scenes of the assault are very entertaining and spectacular, and the presentation of the characters is what offers the best dialogs of humor. Best of all the script is without doubt the strange relationship between the two players.
"The War Wagon" is an effective western of the late 1960, whose largest peculiarity is to see together, to two giants of cinema, the ubiquitous, (for the genre of western), John Wayne, and the tenacious Kirk Douglas, in an adventure full of action and multiple surprises, where both players interpreted to two bandits without too much fortune in their "profession." Notable soundtrack of Dimitri Tiomkin, (Rio Bravo, Five Card Stud), good photography, correct interpretations, and a solvent direction Burt Kennedy, makes this western, as one of the best made in recent years 60.
