This odd little thriller from Argentina is from the same director as "The Curious Dr. Hummpp" but predates that by a few years, as this was actually made in 1965, but not released till 1967.
The story is a rather strange one, to say the least. A couple seeking a quiet place to make out on the beach, notice a strange man in a strange car leaving something along the road (a body) and the find a woman with a hypodermic needle stuck in her chest. Of course, the police come & begin investigations, but it seems like more woman in the area are starting to behave strangely, like one man's fiancée, and it's all due to some kind of strange music (that sounds oddly like the "Dark Shadows" theme). The woman are becoming some kind of drugged zombies for this masked weirdo whose purpose is yet unknown.
What this lacks in coherence and thrills, it makes up for, somewhat, in weirdness & atmosphere. It seems at some point that the locale is trying to be passed of as "California" since one girls is from "San Mateo, just south of L.A." but that's rather geographically wrong, and nothing looks a bit like California.
When it is finally revealed what's going on, it's apparently some kind of twisted vengeance, but as most twisted revenges go, it's also a bit wrong-headed, but hey, it's a horror movie, & from Argentina, to boot, so what do you expect? If nothing else, it's at least worth seeing as a curiosity, and it definitely has a good look and feel to it, even if it's not quite as good as it could have been. 6 out of 10.
