When the sheriff and deputy are giving chase to the stolen car, the deputy raises his gun and fires it into the air while it is next to the sheriff's head. The sheriff cups his hands over his ears and turns to give the deputy a dirty look. However, the gunshot sound occurs after the sheriff has covered his ears.

Continuity 

The movie takes place during mid-September (referred to in the dialogue and the banner being hung in downtown Clayton), but when the car crashes through the alley, the area is full of Christmas trees and ornaments being unloaded.

When Mordecai steals the red convertible and drives away he was still wearing his preacher's outfit. After crashing the car for the last time he was wearing a shirt, striped tie and jacket. He had no time to change outfits while driving.

Factual errors 

At the end of the film, Mordecai supposedly boards the train. There is no way due to his age that he could get himself and his heavy suitcase on a train moving that fast.
