Trivia

A Frank Sinatra song (Come Fly With Me) had a cameo in this movie series. It would be followed in the movie The Ambushers by another Sinatra song Strangers In the Night. Both songs were always played before or after Dean Martin's song Everybody Loves Somebody Sometimes whenever Matt Helm is trying to set a romantic mood with a girl. Also, in both occasions, Martin made fun of those songs(calling in this movie the first song disgusting and referring the second song as a Perry Como song in The Ambushers). See more »

Goofs

During the car chase, Gail Hendricks can be seen sitting much closer to Matt Helm in the shots inside the car compared to the shots from outside (behind) the car. Also the front seat is significantly different when seen from outside the car. It is a bench seat with headrests. See more »

Beautiful, Funny Stella Stevens steals this film!
2 October 2002 | by (San Francisco, California) – See all my reviews

This is the first, and BEST, Matt Helm movie. Stella Stevens steals the show with a wonderful comedic performance as a clumsy tourist suspected of being a spy. Dino is charming, but seems bored throughout the movie. Victor Buono is hilarious as the madman trying to start a nuclear war between the USSR and the USA.

This movie has TONS of 1960s in-jokes. There is a great scene where Dino and Stella are DRINKING LIQUOR while driving on the highway! That alone is worth watching. A concept car of Ford Motor Company was used for the interior of Matt Helm's 1965 Mercury Colony Park station wagon.
