Pearl Jam document an environmental apocalypse and excoriate Donald Trump on their new song, “Quick Escape.” The track will appear on the band’s upcoming album, Gigaton, which arrives this Friday, March 27th.
“Quick Escape” is a delirious hard-rocker complete with heavy drums, screeching guitars, and a pile-driver of a bass line. Eddie Vedder presides over the controlled chaos with a voice that crackles with distortion as he narrates a sci-fi story about a devastated planet — “The lengths we had to go to then/To find a place Trump hadn...

If you still can’t wait a few days, though, the band has come up with a revolutionary new way to give fans a preview of Gigaton: A telephone line! Alright, so it’s not quite revolutionary or new, but it is… retro…...

One of Eddie Vedder’s idols, Roger Daltrey of the Who, once said that the secret to keeping “My Generation” fresh onstage half a century after it was written isn’t nailing the song’s stutter, but believably channeling its anger. It’s a sentiment Vedder would definitely endorse; the Pearl Jam frontman’s rage has always burned bright (this is a guy who once sounded super pissed-off singing about how people should play more vinyl). But as he’s matured, the youthful fury that fueled Pj’s golden-age grunge has grown with him,...

Pearl Jam unveiled a new animated video for their latest single, “Superblood Wolfmoon,” from their upcoming album, Gigaton.
For the clip, the band teamed up with animator Keith Ross, who runs @TinyConcert, an Instagram account where he posts short music videos he’s crafted with only a ballpoint pen. The “Superblood Wolfmoon” clip marks the first full-length music video Ross has made, and his straightforward yet thrillingly dynamic style is a perfect fit for Pearl Jam’s no-frills rocker.

Pearl Jam have released their new single “Superblood Wolfmoon” after previewing the track via smartphones last week. The sonically upbeat rock song sees frontman Eddie Vedder reflecting on a relationship that went south.
“She was a stunner and I am stunned,” he sings. “And the first thought or second thought ‘Could be the one’/ I was a prisoner of keys and the cuffs/ Yeah, I was feeling fortunate to be locked up.” He adds, “I don’t know anything, I question everything/ This life I love is going way too fast.

Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard explained how the group’s upcoming album, Gigaton, captures “the spirit of the band” in a new interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 radio.
The first single from Gigaton, “Dance of the Clairvoyants,” found the band exploring funkier and more experimental sonic territories, with Gossard saying the track exemplifies “the outer edge of something that we haven’t tried before, a new way of configuring our sort of collaborative talents.” But he went on to note that “Dance of the Clairvoyants” is just one of several flavors on the record.

Long ago, during a brief “ecstasy phase,” Eddie Vedder tried to write some techno music. “I was listening to all this stuff on ecstasy,” he told me in 2006, during an all-night chat in a Cleveland hotel room. “But I was wondering, ‘Are they writing it on ecstasy?’ I decided that the pure way to do it is to actually take ecstasy, and then write ecstasy music. That didn’t work out. But I enjoyed the ecstasy.” Around the same time, guitarist Stone Gossard revealed a desire to experiment with Pearl...

“Expecting perfection/leaves a lot to ignore,” Eddie Vedder sings. “When the past is the present and the future’s no more/And every tomorrow is the same as before.”

Pearl Jam revealed the tracklist for their upcoming 11th studio album, Gigaton. The long-awaited 12-track LP, which follows 2013’s Lightning Bolt, features upcoming single “Dance of the Clairvoyants.” Notably, it does not include their most recent song, 2018’s “Can’t Deny Me,” released as part of their Ten Club fan club.
The quintet announced the project in mid-January following an online scavenger hunt built around Paul Nicklen’s vivid cover photo, “Ice Waterfall,” which shows meltwater surging from the Nordaustlandet ice cap.
