Stephen Forsyth goes after a huge stash of looted Nazi counterfeit money
"Fury in Marrakesh" (1966) is a very scenic and fast-moving picture. There's nice location work which looks to be in Morocco and also in a snowy mountain location. I didn't know any of the cast, but they are competent and enter nicely into the spirit of the film. This is an enjoyable film and a good one in the euro-spy genre. It looks good too in its widescreen print. Audio is clear.
A contemporary gang of international thieves has found the multi-billion counterfeit money stash that the Nazis produced. They need to dump it all across the world at once. A lower-level dame is spotted distributing some of it, and this sets American agent Stephen Forsyth onto the trail. After a bit, a Scotland Yard man gets into the act and still later there's a Japanese girl who's an agent. Forsyth is CIA and is equipped with some Bondish devices, but the story doesn't rely at all heavily on that. Forsyth pushes his way along, which leads to some narrow escapes and dangerous moments.
There is a flying sequence that involves a small plane and a helicopter that's done near or in snowy mountain terrain. This is very well done.
Although the picture is not big budget, it has verve and doesn't falter. It's likable. The Forsyth character is upbeat, so that the story doesn't take itself too seriously.
