Paramount and Brad Pitt’s Plan B are teaming up to produce a big-screen version of John Le Carre’s novel, The Night Manager.First published in 1993, Le Carre’s thriller concerns Jonathan Pine, a night manager at a top Cairo hotel who gets mixed up in a web of intrigue when he agrees to spy on a dangerous arms dealer.The likes of The Constant Gardener or Richard Burton’s The Spy Who Came In From The Cold aside, Le Carre adaptations have been pretty thin on the ground – and, when they have made it to the big screen, they’ve been patchy in quality. The Criterion Collection release of The Spy Who Came in from the Cold is so immaculate that the previous Paramount release is rendered unwatchable.
