An Atlas missile carries the space crew into outer space, but changes into a Rocky Jones type spaceship once in space.
There are repeated mentions that the ship is somewhere near the "Triangulum Galaxy". Galaxies are separated by millions of light years, far beyond the range of the spaceship in this film.
Throughout the movie, the spacecraft maintains instantaneous radio communication with Earth, which would have been impossible when they were in another galaxy.
At approx 36 min the ship encounters a "swarm of meteorites dead ahead!" The correct terminology would be a swarm of meteoroids. Meteoroids become meteors when they enter the atmosphere and are also called Shooting Stars. Meteorites are meteors that have survived both a plunge thru Earths atmosphere and a collision with the ground.
Near the beginning when Earth Control destroys the 'Faith 1' spaceship on some strange unknown planet, the ship that is destroyed is actually a Thor missile here on Earth during one of the many tests of the missiles. You can clearly see its launchpad and surrounding missile base.
There are quite a few nonsensical numbers used when the crew is flying the Hope One spaceship. Early on, Dr. Wayne announces, "Coordinate G". Coordinates always have two numbers or letters. When announcing the speed of Hope One, Paul says the speed is "8.5". A few moments later, the speed is announced as, "125,000".
In the credits, Russ Bender is called "Russ Fender".
In the credits Baynes Barron is called "Baynes Barrow".
No reason why a spaceship would be equipped with a diving suit and sonar. That's the pinging sound heard during underwater scenes.
The crew doesn't recognize the underwater monsters are giant crabs.
Everyone pronounces 'Taurus' wrong. The Captain of the spaceship pronounces it as Tyros. It's also called Tarnis, and Talos. But it's never called Taurus.
