We know, "Glee" fans... you're getting kind of tired of the big-name guest stars taking screen time away from the more underused New Directions kids, like Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) and Mercedes (Amber Riley).
Despite your pleas, however, those big-name stars continue to campaign for roles on the show. Anne Hathaway, who is set to host this year's Oscars alongside James Franco, is so enthusiastic about getting a gig on "Glee" that she's already plotted out her role.
"In my head, I've cast myself in 'Glee' and I know what song I'm going to sing," the actress told Jimmy Fallon when she stopped by his show in December. "I would wanna play Kurt's long-lost aunt... who is also gay, who comes back to help him deal with his sexuality, and I would sing 'You Are Not Alone' from Stephen Sondheim's epic show 'Into the Woods.'"

Hagerstown, Md. — Agathe von Trapp, a member of the musical family whose escape from Nazi-occupied Austria was the basis for "The Sound of Music," has died, a longtime friend said Wednesday.
Von Trapp, 97, died Tuesday at a hospice in the Baltimore suburb of Towson after suffering congestive heart failure in November, said Mary Louise Kane. Kane and von Trapp lived together for five decades and ran a kindergarten at the Sacred Heart Catholic parish in nearby Glyndon until 1993.
Von Trapp was the oldest daughter of Austrian naval Capt. Georg Ritter von Trapp. His seven children by his first wife, Agathe Whitehead von Trapp, were the basis for the singing family in the 1959 play and 1965 film, which won the Oscar for best picture.
The widowed captain had three more children with his second wife, Maria Augusta Kutschera. They performed together as the Trapp Family Singers.
Agathe, a guitarist, was represented in the film by 16-going-on-17 Liesl, »

Hearing about the passing of Agathe von Trapp, the eldest daughter of the musical family that inspired The Sound of Music who died Tuesday at age 97, made me remember the evening a few years back when, while watching the film for about the 100th time, I realized I no longer related to Liesl (Charmian Carr), the 16-going-on-17 character based on the real life woman. Instead, I was identifying with Julie Andrews’ Maria (and worrying that I wouldn’t be enough woman for Capt. Von Trapp or to lead his seven children on a mountain escape from the Nazis). It’s »

Eldest daughter of family whose escape from Nazi-occupied Austria inspired The Sound of Music dies of heart failure
The eldest daughter of the family whose escape from Nazi-occupied Austria inspired The Sound of Music has died.
Agathe von Trapp, whose film counterpart was 16-going-on-17 Liesl, who had her heart broken by Rolf, the post boy turned Hitler Youth member, died from heart failure at a hospice in the Baltimore suburb of Towson, her friend Mary Louise Kane said yesterday.

Agathe von Trapp (pictured above left, middle left with her sister Maria), the oldest daughter of the family portrayed in the 1965 blockbuster "The Sound of Music," has died at the age of 97 of congestive heart failure, reports the Montreal Gazette.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Agathe hadn't performed with her siblings for several decades and had shied away from the fame the movie brought her family because she never felt the movie was an accurate portrayal.
There were minor inconsistencies, like making Liesl, the character based on Agathe (Charmian Carr, pictured above, right), the oldest child (in reality, Agathe had an older brother). Agathe also did not have a telegram delivery boyfriend who later became a Nazi.
But the dramatization of those aspects did not bother her as much as the portrayal of her father, Capt. von Trapp, whom she always insisted was loving and kind, not cold and distant »

A woman whose family inspired classic movie musical The Sound Of Music has died.
Agathe von Trapp passed away on Tuesday at a hospice in Towson, Maryland after suffering congestive heart failure last month. She was 97.
Von Trapp was the oldest daughter of Austrian naval officer Captain Georg Ritter von Trapp, whose seven children were the basis for the singing family in Robert Wise's 1965 movie, starring Julie Andrews.
The musical centred around a woman who leaves an Austrian convent to become a governess to the children of a stern naval officer widower.
The real-life von Trapp daughter ran a kindergarten at the Sacred Heart Catholic parish in Glyndon, Maryland prior to her death. »

Let's talk about the best Fyc campaign of the year. The one where Pixar tries to build a case for Toy Story 3 as the Best Picture of the year, not just a nominee. Pixar won't be happy to just get the annual ghetto Oscar for Animated Feature, they want the big one. Do you believe this is possible? I can't say that I do...
Or, rather, it's possible but not bloody likely. A good correlation might be the foreign language film category. They also have their own category and very few have ever been nominated for Best Picture and none have won (the closest to a "foreign" winner is Slumdog Millionaire which is technically a British film but is partially in Hindi).
But let's look at the ads themselves, from worst to best, which use "Not since _____ " to compare TS3 to previous Best Picture winners.
Here's the two I find most problematic. »

Fox led in adults 18-49 with a 3.1 rating. CBS had a 1.6, and ABC and NBC tied with a 1.4 apiece.

Hugh Laurie lends his House voice (if not his dignity) to this repeat from last December, in which Peter grabs the reins of Pewterschmidt Industries after Lois' dad, Carter, suffers a heart attack and lapses into a coma (that's where House comes in). Peter's management style certainly won't surprise regular Family Guy viewers, and taxpayers can be relieved that Pewterschmidt Industries didn't receive a bailout. Winner: "Avatar: Extended Edition"
Runner-up: "Inception"
Doesn't matter what you thought of the film, I enjoyed it but didn't particularly love it, James Cameron fully delivers on his promise to make the 'Extended Edition' Blu-ray release worth the double-dip as it has to be one the single deepest and richest releases for a single film on the market.
The transfer is pure reference quality, the inserted new footage in the three alternate cuts available is exactly the same quality as the rest of the cut, and the sound design is awe-inspiring. Extras are disgustingly rich - three near feature-length docos, nearly an hour of cut footage, countless featurettes, artwork and a beautiful looking if a tiny bit awkwardly designed packaged set.
Picking a runner-up wasn't that difficult. Christopher Nolan's puzzle box of a film "Inception" is a trippy but whip smart and bold heist film »

I feel that before I start my review, I need to give a brief overview of Stephen Sondheim and his influence on musical theater. Sadly, I know that just by saying “musical theater,” many people have already tuned out and moved on with their lives. They should be paying attention, though. His work broke down barriers in American entertainment and made audiences rethink love, relationships, and the traditional idea of heroes and villains. If you care about film, television, comics, or any other art form, you should care about Stephen Sondheim, and Sondheim! The Birthday Concert shows just how much he has changed songwriting and storytelling.
For those who do not know Stephen Sondheim by name, it is likely that you recognize some of his work. He wrote the lyrics for West Side Story. He wrote the oft sung and parodied “Send in the Clowns” as well as “Everything’s Coming Up Roses, »

There are some things in life that you absolutely need to survive; food, shelter, and fire could be counted among them. There are also things that seem to mock the very idea of survivalist necessity, and Special Edition DVDs fall squarely into that category. As Christmas comes but once a year (and a few select, rare people even have birthdays), there’s only so much time that can really be devoted to even thinking about laying down the money to buy one of these things, but this is one of them. In alphabetical order, the following things should probably be considered if you’re buying something for anyone who is of the opinion that a movie is definitely not over once the final credits finish.

Film and television giant Blake Edwards passed away Thursday morning in Santa Monica. According to a statement from Edwards’ publicist, Gene Schwam, the 88-year-old legendary writer-director behind such works as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Pink Panther series, and Victor/Victoria died as a result of lingering complications from pneumonia.
Edwards passed away with wife Julie Andrews (The Sound of Music, Tooth Fairy) and his children near his bedside.
Blake Edwards, a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, relocated in infancy with his family to Los Angeles, where he would eventually graduate from Beverly Hills High before serving in the Coast Guard during World War II. After the war, Edwards briefly worked as an actor before concentrating on writing and directing films and television projects almost exclusively for the remainder of his career.
