- Isabel Llanos (Sara Montiel) is a beautiful aspiring singer with great ambitions but persistent bad luck... Convicted of a crime she did not commit, she served time in prison and is released under parole. She lands a singing gig at a dive in Barcelona where she meets Xandro "The Greek" (Alain Saury) and his lover/business partner Gloria (Magali Noel). The couple is posing as entertainment promoters but they are really running a prostitution ring based in Beirut, Lebanon. They offer Isabel a two-year contract to perform in "night clubs" in the Mideast even after they learn that she cannot travel abroad due to her legal status. Isabel, desperate to get away from her past troubles, accepts and leaves Spain using a fake passport provided by Xandro. She travels to Beirut in a luxurious ship along with other girls recruited also as "talents." In the ship Isabel meets Francis, (Giancarlo del Duca) a young handsome playboy and romance blooms between the two. The relationship is cut short by intrigues courtesy of Xandro and Gloria. Upon arrival in Beirut, Isabel and the other girls are sped away to a luxurious villa where they discover the real intentions of the pseudo-promoters. They are expected to sing and dance but also to engage in sexual activities with the rich clients that patronize the place. Isabel pretends to go along with the situation but she has a plan to get away... After a performance she lets herself be picked up by a client, Dr. Castello,(Fernand Gravey) a distinguished-looking elderly physician. When they are alone in the bedroom, Isabel tells Dr. Castello her story and the older man promises to help her get away. In the meantime, one of the other girls at the villa commits suicide out of depression and desperation. The establishment falls into legal troubles with the authorities and Dr. Castello, taking advantage of the confusion, rescues Isabel and takes her to Paris. He sets her up in a nice apartment and uses his influence to get her into French television. Secretly, the older man has fallen in love with the singer but decides to wait until Isabel is financially independent. His plans are interrupted by the arrival of his son, who happens to be Francis, the young man Isabel fell in love with aboard the ship. Isabel and Francis resume their romance while she gets ready for her television debut. Meanwhile in Beirut, Xandro, Gloria and the Mafia are under heavy investigation. It is decided that Isabel must die before she gets the chance to testify against them and Xandro is sent to Paris with the mission to silence her forever. At the French capital, Isabel has a great success on television and is booked to perform at the prestigious Olympia Theater. Her affair with Francis is at a high point while Dr. Costello awaits his chance in silence. Xandro realizes the situation and changes his plans. He is also in love with Isabel and decides that instead of killing her, he would blackmail her threatening to kill Francis if Isabel doesn't go away with him to South America. Ignoring all this, Francis proposes marriage to Isabel and seeks his fathers blessing. Dr. Castello decides to discourage his son by telling him that Isabel was really a prostitute in Beirut. Actually the old man is acting both as a concerned father and a man in love who had great hopes of marrying Isabel himself. Francis confronts Isabel and she doesn't deny the charge because, by now, she has decided to sacrifice herself and go away with Xandro in order to save Francis... Dr. Castello regrets having lied to his son and sets out to straiten the situation by offering Xandro all the money necessary if he agrees to leave the country alone. Xandro refuses and a confrontation arises between the two men in which Xandro kills Dr. Castello and runs away into the street. Outside Gloria, who has found out Xandros plans to escape with Isabel, sits in a car with some gunmen awaiting to execute him for treason. A rain of bullets shots down Xandro and the car speeds away into the night. Isabel arrives followed by Francis and they are filled with horror when they discover Dr. Castello's body upstairs. Isabels feels guilty and steps out devastated while walking the streets in a state of shock. Francis also walks in shock behind Isabel. It will soon be morning and a new dawn will illuminate Paris. THE END
