Speedy Gonzales / Daffy Duck / Mice (voice)

Daffy runs a ranch. He won't let the starving mice in. They call on their cousin Speedy, who arrives and knocks Daffy's beak off. Daffy demands a duel. Daffy fires a cannon at Speedy, who outruns the cannonball and somehow gets it to turn back on Daffy. Speedy comes by to borrow a cannonball; he climbs into the cannon and rolls it home. Daffy plants land mines between their two forts and then loses the map to Speedy. He finds them, one by one, as he walks home. Speedy gets tired of fighting and goes home, so Daffy celebrates with a 21-gun salute: 21 cannons pointed at Speedy's door, which of course turn back on Daffy just as he pulls the trigger. User Reviews

One of the better Daffy/Speedy cartoons
8 May 2010 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

I do think Daffy Rents is the best Daffy/Speedy cartoon, but Assault and Peppered(love the title, quite possibly the best thing of the cartoon) is not that bad. The animation is not always great, the story line has its mediocre moments and there are pacing problems. Problems aside, I was pleased to see the mean and greedy Daffy back, that was a trait that I was missing of his in other Speedy cartoons, and Speedy is at least okay here. The dialogue is funny, and the sight gags are interesting. On top of that, Mel Blanc is superb with the vocals, even when the cartoon isn't brilliant, Blanc's immortal voices always helps elevate. Overall, not brilliant but it is a good one. 7/10 Bethany Cox
