Season 1, Episode 2: The Girl Next Door Is a Spy

The dying Paul Bryan is delighted to spot a childhood sweetheart, but she confides 3 countries are spying on her - including the U.S. After ducking the persistent lawyer in West Berlin, she explains that her husband, a British 00, was supposedly killed, but his body is missing. The CIA violates Paul's civil rights and finds that Paul has a year or 2 to live. That enables the CIA to pressure Paul, a Korean War top gun, to help the U.S. determine if her spouse Biff Henderson is alive. Thus MI5 can rule out Biff's defecting or being kidnapped. Mrs. Henderson's desperate ploy to enter Soviet satellite Czechoslovakia, alerted the CIA to spy her. Paul spurned an offer to run for Attorney General to expand his soul before he dies, and he's supposed to stay in touch with his physician, in case a cure is found for his illness. Does the bachelor with no living relatives resume his Black Death tour of Europe, and will Paul's concern for the gorgeous, suicidal widow trump his patriotism?

Season 1, Episode 4: Never Pick Up a Stranger

After Paul Bryan forces an amorous runaway to return to her small town, the speed bump's sheriff is willing to go to any extreme to get Bryan back on Route 66 ASAP. The teen who claimed her car broke down, flagged down the dying Bryan, as he sped through fly-over country in a luxurious convertible. Torn between lust and his responsibility as an attorney, Bryan grills Kathy Sloan till she admits she's a runaway without even a driver's license, who may be under the age of consent. When Bryan hands Kathy over to her grateful grandparents, they confirm she's 19. Thus Paul Bryan decides to lounge in Kathy's small town for awhile, and convince her not to toss away her scholarship to a Seven Sister college. However, the local sheriff demands to know Bryan's business in town, which the always-righteous lawyer refuses to do. Why is Sheriff Trumbell so ruthless towards Bryan ?

Paul Bryan and Neil Trotter are en route to Trinidad to pick up a crew for a sailboat race in Rio when the autopilot they are testing breaks down and forces them to land in Bonaire. When Trotter is murdered Paul becomes the prime suspect and is forbidden to leave the island by Inspector Kronig. After Kronig discovers an American from Trotter's hometown living in Bonaire, he enlists Paul's help to find out what she knows. Soon after, at his hotel, Paul meets another woman from the same town.

Whilst traveling greyhound, Paul crosses paths with Tina, an abrasive yet enigmatic fifteen-year-old. However, their journey is shortly interrupted by a breakdown, forcing the two to continue via a rental car. However, her problematical attitude soon clashes with our mild manner Samaritan. Infuriating him to the point of abandoning her at the roadside of sparsely traveled desert highway. But being good of heart, he shortly returns to a less hubris Tina. Paul later learns that she is a runaway, awarded custody to the grandparents of her widower father. A small book store owner, believed to be living somewhere on the southwest side of Flagstaff Arizona.
