Trivia

The role of the commanding general in I Dream of Jeannie (1965), first Barton MacLane (who portrayed General Peterson over 35 episodes from 1965 to 1969), and second Vinton Hayworth (who portrayed General Schaeffer over 20 episodes from 1969 to 1970), was not only the last role that each of these actors portrayed during their careers, but it was also their dying role, as each of these actors died during the time that episodes were being filmed. In the case of Hayworth as General Schaeffer, the series had already been canceled, so the commanding general role did not need to be recast a second time. See more »

Goofs

In the episode I Dream of Jeannie: My Master, the Great Rembrandt, Jeannie turns Tony's amateur painting into a genuine signed Rembrandt. The Rembrandt signature is seen in closeups but is clearly missing from the painting in wider shots. See more »

Quotes

Jeannie: Master is football more important to you than I am?
Major Nelson: Of course not, that's like comparing oranges and lemons.
Jeannie: And I'm the lemon.

User Reviews

one of the best sitcoms ever
14 September 2002 | by (Budapest, Hungary) – See all my reviews

In the world of the 50s and 60s silly sitcoms, this is an except, a colorful and exciting show. Barbara Eden is very good at her role, Larry Hagman is better actor here than in "Dallas" or another serieses. The best is Bill Daily's Maj. Healey, but I like the late Hayden Rorke's suspicious Dr. Bellows too. When I saw the series' episodes first time I got a laughing-stock. It is fantastic! The first and second seasons are perfect, the third and fourth are good, but the fifth is a silly, American family sitcom. After Jeannie marries her master, the series goes wrong. But except for those 20 episodes, the whole series is my favorite sitcom of all times!
