NBC's only remaining soap opera has been around for more than 50 years. Days of Our Lives' ratings have dropped a lot over the years but, thankfully, there's no danger of it being cancelled soon. The network has already renewed it for the 2016-17 season (the show's 52nd!). Will it be safe after that? Stay tuned.
Set in the Mid-western town of Salem, Days of Our Lives revolves around the members of the Brady, Horton, and Dimera families -- along with their friends, enemies, and lovers. Castmembers include Kristian Alfonso, John Aniston, Camila Banus, Bryan Dattilo, Mary Beth Evans, Billy Flynn, Galen Gering, Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Lauren Koslow, Wally Kurth, Jen Lilley, Kate Mansi, Eric Martsolf, Joseph Mascolo, Peggy McCay, Casey Moss, James Read, Melissa Reeves, James Reynolds, Suzanne Rogers, Josh Taylor, Greg Vaughan, Robert Scott Wilson, and Arianne Zucker.

Once upon a time, there were lots of soap operas on the networks' daytime schedules. Most were cancelled over the years and only four remain -- The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS), Days of Our Lives (NBC), General Hospital (ABC), and The Young and the Restless (CBS). How long will these four survive? That will likely have a lot to do with the ratings. Stay tuned.
Note: Each network measures its own programming's success separately. Still, it's fun to see how the four of them rank against each other.Read More… »
South African pubcaster Sabc is moving forward with plans to implement a local content quota of 90%, according to COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Motsoeneng announced a host of measures meant to shore up the floundering pubcaster, including a new programming schedule and a logo redesign for its struggling SABC3 web.
Most controversial was the decision to drop a number of foreign hits, including “Days of Our Lives,” “Survivor,” and “The Office,” which prompted a social-media backlash.
Motsoeneng, who’s been a polarizing figure during his tenure at the Sabc, defended the decision to axe most of the pubcaster’s foreign slate.
“The reality is international content isn’t doing well for the Sabc,” he said.
Speaking alongside Sabc execs, Motsoeneng reiterated his commitment to drive growth in South Africa’s TV sector, noting that the pubcaster had already set aside a budget of R600 million (around $40 million) to fund local content.

The word of the week in Salem is escape.
On this week's Days of Our Lives, Abigail made an all-too-easy escape from Shady Hills Mental Hospital while Andre managed to get out of jail. Meanwhile, Hope and Aiden went out of town, while Deimos tried to convince Chloe to run away and travel the world with him.
The Chad/Abigail story has been nothing short of devastating. Who expects to start married life with the new bride going insane and the new groom having to fight with his mother-in-law about the best course of treatment?
This storyline would have been even stronger had Abigail been receiving competent medical care. As usual, Dr. Robinson had no empathy and seemed overly eager to sedate Abigail. She even threatened to do it when Abby showed absolutely zero signs of agitation, just because she said she wanted to go home!

On a new Days of Our lives on Thursday, it appears that Paul has accepted an offer from John. It looks, though, like the offer might not be so bad. In so many story lines, the offers made by others are often dangerous and self-serving, but this appears to be a simple job offer. It appears that John is merely asking Paul to work for him at Black Pitch. Of course, we know better than that. No one around here makes any offers without wanting something out of it for themselves, so we know that this offer is one that

There’s a lot of murder and mayhem on Days of Our Lives on a fairly regular basis, but it seems that things are getting even more out of control these days than they have been in a while. What is going on around here? We aren’t entirely certain we know what’s happening, but we certainly know that things are not looking good for people who are being blamed for murders they did not commit, and those who are looking to stop living the way they’ve been living. When Rafe and Roman are in the middle of the police station going

Oh, quit your moping already. Though many of your — and, yes, our — favorite primetime dramas are currently on hiatus, their daytime counterparts don’t get a summer vacation. In fact, if anything, the afternoon soaps turn up the heat this time of year to ensure that their storylines are as irresistible as a poolside mojito.
What’s going on with the people on Days of Our Lives is becoming questionable. It turns out that Aiden and Andre are working together to get rid of his rival, and it’s going to be bad news for the Dimeras. It seems that they are willing to get into dirty business with him, and that kind of situation never bodes well for anyone involved. As it happens, too, Chad is heartbroken and completely upset by the turn of events with Abigail. She’s burned, she’s upset and she’s sick. She’s not in her right frame of mind as it is, but

Nicole was accused of killing Deimos, who was off visiting Chloe, Theresa had a bad dream, and Chad’s real world turned into a nightmare on Days of Our Lives.
Our TV Fanatics Jack Ori and Christine Orlando are joined by Fluffysmom from MyHourglass a Days of Our Lives fan forum to debate who has the best chemistry with Deimos, Theresa’s dream sequence, and if Aiden can be redeemed now that he’s back in Salem.
Would you like to see Rafe paired with Hope, Nicole, Blanca, somewhat else? No one at all?
Jack: Rafe and Nicole are my dream couple right now (as in the dream that will never come true). They have a ton of chemistry and would be an interesting pair, and if Adriana doesn't think Hope is good enough for Rafe I can't imagine what she'd say or do if he were paired with Nicole. »

It's hard not to love Nicole Walker.
Whether she's shredding evidence her ex-priest boyfriend claims not to want, pinning the death of her baby on an innocent woman, or trying to get her life together after her fiance's death, there's just something so relatable about Nicole. Whether she's good or bad, viewers' hearts go out to her.
That's why this week's Days of Our Lives, which had Nicole hiding in a closet with Dario and then being arrested by the world's most incompetent cop, was so infuriating.
This summer's front burner storyline appears to be Nicole trying to prove her innocence after Kate threw an unconscious Deimos into the river and cried gallons of crocodile tears to Roman about how Nicole destroyed her new life with her loving husband.
The fight between Kate and Deimos has been featured in so many flashbacks viewers can probably recite the dialogue by heart »

Tale of Tales, 2015.
Directed by Matteo Garrone.
From the bitter quest of the Queen of Longtrellis, to two mysterious sisters who provoke the passion of a king, to the King of Highhills obsessed with a giant Flea, these tales are inspired by the fairytales by Giambattista Basile.
Matteo Garrone’s previous feature Reality seemed to find the Italian divulging his dreams of the surreal within the social-realism of modern Italy. With Tale of Tales – based upon the poet and scholar Giambattista Basile’s folk myths of the 16th century-Garrone has plunged head first into a murky pool chock-full of the surreal, heady erotica and fetishistic fancy dress.

When Kirsten Storms told her fans that they’d be seeing her again “in no time,” she really meant it: The General Hospital leading lady will be back on air as Maxie the first week of August, TVLine has confirmed.
In May, the actress began a leave of absence from ABC’s daytime drama to recover from what she described in a tweet as “breakouts due to stress,” which became “too difficult for Gh to cover up.
“And we all know,” she added, “in this biz, appearance is important. »
The situation is tragic on Days of Our Lives. There was a big fire, and now we know who it is that’s been hurt in it. It’s Abigail. After all she has been through recently in her life, it seems that she cannot catch a break. Of course, she’s been replaced with another actress for the time being, so it appears that perhaps a fire that would change her look might be just what the story line needs to make sure that her changing looks are suddenly explained and believed by those who watch the show. Either way, Chad has

When Days of Our Lives’ Hope agreed to have a romantic dinner with Aiden Wednesday (NBC, 1/12c), she didn’t realize that she wouldn’t just be breaking bread with the last man she made her husband but also a guy who, as recently as their wedding day, was planning to make himself her widower. Even after he had a change of heart, was replaced by a look-alike assassin and escaped from captivity to return from “the dead,” marvels Kristian Alfonso, who plays the heroine, “Aiden’s still continuing to lie to her.
