Soap Opera Ratings for the 2015-16 Season (updated 7/23/16)

1 hour ago | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Once upon a time, there were lots of soap operas on the networks' daytime schedules. Most were cancelled over the years and only four remain -- The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS), Days of Our Lives (NBC), General Hospital (ABC), and The Young and the Restless (CBS). How long will these four survive? That will likely have a lot to do with the ratings. Stay tuned.Note: Each network measures its own programming's success separately. Still, it's fun to see how the four of them rank against each other.Read More… »

Days of Our Lives Review: Way Out of Balance

22 July 2016 12:10 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Enough is enough.

Days of Our Lives is supposed to be an ensemble show, but this week focused almost exclusively on Hope and Rafe's storyline. Viewers who didn't like this story, this pairing, or these characters were pretty much out of luck.

Even some Hope/Rafe fans were burned out by so much overexposure of this couple.

Rafe and Hope found themselves in a sticky situation at the beginning of the week.  Rafe was chained to the wall and Hope couldn't free him as a bomb was about to explode.

Naturally, they fought for most of the little time remaining over whether Hope should save herself and at the last second she got the brilliant idea to shoot the chain off the wall.

This whole scenario made it difficult to believe Rafe was ever an FBI agent or that Hope is a decorated detective. Rafe's contribution to solving the problem »

It had its world premiere in the Midnight section of the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival.

The film “centers on Sean Lockhart – seventeen and boyishly handsome – who dreams of fame and success even though he’s broke and without direction. When he meets the seemingly conservative Stephen, founder of Cobra Video, he starts to perform in gay porn under the moniker ‘Brent Corrigan,’ creating a slew of wildly successful videos during which he blossoms from a naïve young man into a confident sex symbol. It’s a day of heartbreak on Days of Our lives. Kate has done some horrible things to Deimos. She was in love with him and begged him to marry her, but then she turned around and tried to kill him. In fact, she actually thought she did kill him and was more than a little bit surprised that he was still alive when he came back into town and showed up at her door. She tried to blame it on Nicole, the woman with whom Deimos is in love, because she was jealous and couldn’t handle it. Now she’s being

Interview: Lawrence Grey on Producing Lights Out, How the Short Film Won Him Over & Potential Sequel Plans

20 July 2016 3:43 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Arriving in theaters everywhere this weekend, Lights Out is set to terrify audiences and give fans a new reason to fear the dark. The film was one of my favorites at this year’s Los Angeles Film Festival, which is why I was eager to catch up with the movie’s producer, Lawrence Grey, at the recent press day to talk about his initial impressions of director David F. Sandberg’s original short film, the process of adapting the concept of Lights Out for the big screen, where they’d like to take a sequel if all goes well with this release, and more.

Written by Eric Heisserer and directed by Sandberg, Lights Out stars Maria Bello, Teresa Palmer, Gabriel Bateman, and Alexander Dipersia.

Congrats on the film, Lawrence. I had a chance to see it at the La Film Festival and had so much fun with it. I loved »

Shawn assumes that they must have died in the explosion, Andre is certain they’ve been killed and there is probably no one looking for them. Days of Our Lives is taking a scary turn this week as we see the aftermath of the explosion that rocked the city straight to the core. The Bomb Squad is on the move, and they are looking for evidence and anything that might tell them whether or not there were any survivors. If we are being honest here, they don’t think that there are any survivors. It would be near impossible to find a body intact in the mess that was made when that bomb went off. The good news, though, is that Hope and Rafe are alive. Hope

Days of Our Lives Round Table: Who Should Have Custody of Thomas?

17 July 2016 6:00 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Jennifer decided to sue for custody and take Thomas from Chad, Theresa lashed out as Brady thought he could leave her behind, and Aiden got caught in yet another lie this weak in Salem.

Our TV Fanatics Jack Ori and Christine Orlando are joined by Tapdancer from MyHourglass a Days of Our Lives fan forum to debate who should have custody of Thomas, Paul’s new role as a P.I.and whether anyone would trust Aiden after this latest lie.

Would Jennifer make a better caregiver for Thomas than his father, Chad?

Tapdancer: No. Both of her kids have issues and Jennifer spent six months popping pills. Chad has done nothing to harm his son, so there's no reason Thomas should be taken from him.

Jack: I think they are both unfit but Jennifer has a slight edge. She made some horrendous mistakes with Jj, but hiring an unstable »

Days of Our Lives Recap: Round and Round We Go

15 July 2016 11:36 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Here we go again...

On this week's Days of Our Lives, Rafe became the third person to be chained up somewhere by the Dimeras while Hope punched Aiden in the face and then arrested him. She then decided to hold onto him while she searched for something to charge him with.

Can this storyline sink any lower than it already has?

There are so many problems with this story that it's hard to know where to begin. First, Rafe and Hope keep looking down their noses at Aiden for telling lies while conveniently forgetting that they covered up a murder and sent an innocent man to jail for it.

Yes, the dead man is Stefano and the maligned one Andre, but that doesn't make Hope and Rafe's behavior okay.

This latest incident just makes Hope and Roman even more corrupt than they were before. They basically want to put Aiden »

Extreme Ghostbusters: revisiting an underappreciated cartoon

14 July 2016 6:15 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Stephen Harber Jul 18, 2016

We look back at an often-overlooked part of the Ghostbusters legacy: it's Extreme Ghostbusters...

There was a time when no one cared about Ghostbusters. It was the late 90s - the pre-Pokemon, post-Mighty Morphin Power Rangers days to be exact. Nobody’s kid was exactly clamouring for a sequel, reboot, or a Ghostbusters continuation of any kind - except for Dan Aykroyd, who was practically lobbying for a third instalment while sitting front row at the Ghostbusters II premiere. Which is why we have this: an awkwardly timed, tonally disruptive Ghostbusters animated series.

Enter a brand new cartoon that picked up the sticky, ectoplasm-covered mantle of The Real Ghostbusters and wore it slightly askew to evoke that wholesome sense of 1990s irreverence: Extreme Ghostbusters.

Living up to its name, Xgb was extreme indeed. One glance at its radically inclusive team line-up is all you need to notice that. »

Fund This: ‘Period Piece’ Heads To Kickstarter To Begin Another Cycle

13 July 2016 5:43 PM, PDT | Tubefilter.com | See recent Tubefilter News news »

Project Name: Period Piece

Asking For: $20,000 on Kickstarter

Amount Raised Thus Far (At Time Of Post): $15,795

Days Remaining In Campaign (At Time Of Post): 27 hours. Go fast!

Description: A web series that deftly combines comedy, history, and feminism is looking to pick up the funding it needs for a second season. Period Piece, created by Liliana Tandon, needs one final push on Kickstarter if it is to reach its goal.

The name Period Piece is a double-entendre that refers both to the show's historical focus and its discussion of menstruation. Episodes take place during individual historical moments in time and use punchy back-and-forth dialogues to explain the prevailing attitudes toward periods across many cultures and eras. The show's first season covered several thousand years, and season two is aiming for an equally huge breadth. Its settings will range from antiquity to the modern day, with a special Donald Trump episode on the horizon. »

Summer is a difficult time for many on Days of Our Lives, especially if your name is Summer. She’s up to nothing good, and that should not come as so much of a surprise to us.
