In ancient Greece a race of evil aliens from the moon land on earth. For years they've terrorized the nearby city of Samar, demanding children for sacrifice. Usual sword, sweat, and sandal nonsense. Alan Steel (real name Sergio Ciani) is okay as Hercules, certainly no worse than any of the other athletes and bodybuilders who took their turn as Hercules. Steel's shorter and not as physically impressive as Steve Reeves or Reg Park, but he handles himself well in the fight scenes and he has some amusing moments. It should be noted that Steel got his start as a photography double for Steve Reeves in the first two Hercules films (Hercules and Hercules Unchained). Talk about getting promoted.
With brown the dominating color, it's a pretty atmospheric venture and features some towering stone monsters which aren't bad for what they are. They look a lot more real than the CGI creatures of the new Star Wars trilogy, that's for damn sure.
My uncle showed this to me from Mystery Science Theater 3000 and I fell in love with it. It makes me long for the show and the old Hercules films all the more.
