Batman 'very, very gay' says the comic's writer

27 April 2012 5:58 PM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

As two of the leading crime fighters in the superhero world, Batman and Robin spend an awful lot of time together. And if you believe Batman comic writer Grant Morrison, there could be a little more to this relationship than meets the eye.

"Batman is very, very gay. There's just no denying it," Morrison tells Playboy. "Obviously as a fictional character he's intended to be heterosexual, but the basis of the whole concept is utterly gay."

Morrison isn't new to the scene either. He's been writing for comic books since the 1980s and began writing for Batman in 2006. Comic Book Resource even named him the No. 2 favorite comic book writer of all time.

"Gayness is built into Batman. I'm not using gay in the pejorative sense," Morrison continues. "All these women fancy him and they all wear fetish clothes and jump around rooftops to get to him. He doesn't care--he's »

Batman has been described as a lot of things, but I think this might be a first (well, I'm sure somebody used the word after seeing Batman And Robin) - comic book writer Grant Morrison describes the ol Caped Crusader as "utterly gay" in an interview with Playboy.. "He's very plutonian in the sense that he's wealthy and also in the sense that he's sexually deviant. Gayness is built into Batman." He continues.. "I'm not using gay in the pejorative sense, but Batman is very, very gay. There's just no denying it. Obviously as a fictional character he's intended to be heterosexual, but the basis of the whole concept is utterly gay. I think that's why people like it. All these women fancy him and they all wear fetish clothes and jump around rooftops to get to him. He doesn't care - he's more interested in hanging out with the »

Grant Morrison Says Batman is “Very, Very Gay”

27 April 2012 2:06 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Long-time Batman writer Grant Morrison has told Playboy magazine that he believes The Dark Knight is a “sexual deviant” and “utterly gay” in a fascinating interview that may change our understanding of his Bat-books.

Morrison, writer of DC ComicsBatman franchise has being writing the character since 2006, a run that has included the storylines “Batman & Son”, “Batman R.I.P.”, “Batman and Robin” and “The Return of Bruce Wayne”. His newest project is “Batman Incorporated” which returns to shelves next month as part of DC’s second wave of new 52 comic titles.

His approach to the Batman character hasn’t been to everyone’s liking and perhaps this reading of the Bob Kane creator character is why a portion of Bat fans are turned off by his books.

“He’s very plutonian in the sense that he’s wealthy and also in the sense that he’s sexually deviant,” Morrison said of Bruce Wayne. »

Comics Writer: Batman Is 'Very, Very Gay'

Is one of the world's most iconic superheroes really a gay man?

Action Comics writer Grant Morrison, who is best known for revamping DC Comics' family of Batman titles, spoke at length about comic superheroes in an interview with Playboy magazine, confirming maybe those Batman and Robin rumors aren't so far-fetched after all, because the title character is "very, very gay."

"He’s very plutonian in the sense that he’s wealthy and also in the sense that he’s sexually deviant," Morrison told the magazine. "Gayness is built into Batman. I’m not using gay in the pejorative sense, but Batman is very, very gay. There’s just no denying it. Obviously as a fictional character he’s intended to be heterosexual, but the basis of the whole concept is utterly gay."

In fact, Morrison adds, Batman's "gayness" is actually part of the character's near-universal appeal: "I think »

Kim Kardashian on flour bomber "bully": 'Why are you being violent?'

23 March 2012 5:44 PM, PDT | digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news »

Kim Kardashian has labelled the girl who flour-bombed her a "bully". The reality television star and model, who had flour thrown at her by an unnamed female during her perfume launch last night, said she finds it "sad" that the woman had to resort to 'violence'. Kardashian told TMZ: "Last night was definitely eventful. What was sad [was that] we were supporting Dress for Success, an organisation that helps women get jobs. All these women that came out to support, I didn't want their organisation to be overshadowed by this. "It was crazy but I tried to laugh it off - I dusted off my jacket, used a blow drier to get the powder out of my hair, my mum and I got it together and I went right back - I didn't want to waste anyone's time when all these people had come to support... the show must go on I guess. »

Barbara Walters Thinks ‘Bachelor’ Ben Flajnik Is Not So Cute — Bam!

10 February 2012 8:11 AM, PST | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Good ole Babs usually keeps things fairly PC, but on the Feb. 9th show of 'The View,' the octogenarian disses one of her own network's shows, 'The Bachelor,' and wonders what ladies see in Ben Flajnik's mug! Self-proclaimed early sleeper Barbara Walters, 82, finally caved and stayed up to watch The Bachelor one Monday night (someone must've caffeinated her Ovaltine)... During the Reality Show Roundup on The View, Babs came clean and made a blunt confession. "I finally saw this show. It's an ABC show. They may fire me," she said as an awkward pecking scene between Ben Flajnik, 28, and a contestant popped up on screen for the audience to watch. "It's a stupid show," she interjected. "All these gorgeous women are going after this guy who -- well, I'm gonna say it -- is less than gorgeous." Ouch! Did you hear that Benbo? Babs almost called you a butter face! »
