Sorta bland and indistinguishable from other Peplums but worth watching for fans of Richard Harrison

I love Peplums and watch all of them and usually remember most of them, either because they're very good or because of some specific memorable scene or just because the film was really bad. Well, with TWO GLADIATORS, the film is so bland and indistinguishable from other Peplums that I had to re-watch it again just prompt my memory. While watching for a second time, I realized that there's very little worth mentioning. We see actors dressed as Roman soldiers running around in the forest, either on horseback or on foot, fighting or escaping. The story, which is basically the same for THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE or GLADIATOR but on a small scale, is hardly fleshed out in an imaginative way. It's almost like the producers decided to shoot some scenes with actors dressed as Roman soldiers somewhere in the Italian countryside or some studio bound cavern and wrote a script around those scenes. OK, I'm exaggerating but you get the idea.

Richard Harrison and Mimmo Palmara are the only two actors of note here, even though there are other familiar faces from other Peplums epics but Harrison and Palmara are the actors that stand out. Both of them are good here and the best scenes in the movie are those when both actors are together but those scenes are few and far in between. Harrison is one of the best actors that worked in Peplums and he doesn't disappoint in TWO GLADIATORS but he's oddly underused. He should have had more screen time. Unfortunately, Harrison starred in too many low-budget S&S films and this is just one of those he did one after the other. The film actually picks up and becomes more watchable as it goes along and there are a couple of memorable scenes, including the (studio bound) ending but it still pretty much bland, like its indistinguishable title.
