Trivia

The original series pilot Gilligan's Island: Marooned (1992) had different actors in the role of the Professor and two female castaways, Ginger and Bunny, both secretaries. Because of the cast changes, the original pilot was unairable until it was broadcast by TBS in 1992. See more »

Goofs

It has often been observed that although they were on "a three hour tour," the castaways have an awful lot of supplies. Mary Ann and Ginger have seemingly not ever worn the same clothes twice, the Professor has an extensively library, the Howells have myriad luxury items, etcetera. See more »

Quotes

Gilligan: You're a big man with a big head and...
Skipper Jonas Grumby: Gilligan!
Gilligan: And a big heart.
Skipper Jonas Grumby: Oh, thank you.

Crazy Credits

During the first season's opening credits, for some reason neither The Professor, Russell Johnson nor Mary Ann Dawn Wells received an on screen billing, nor were they referred to in the theme song. They were just referred to as "... and the rest." For seasons two and three they were added at the request of Bob Denver, who played "Gilligan" and thought it was stupid to leave out the two actors just to shorten the introductory song by a few notes. Truly classic television appropriate for anyone to see
5 May 2003 | by (Tilton, Illinois) – See all my reviews

I have always been a fan of this show and I grew up with it.

I have to say that being in my late 30's now, I still enjoy watching it. There is nothing in the show to offend anyone and you don't have to worry about something inappropriate for young viewers. Not too many shows nowadays are around that you can let a child watch that doesn't have something that is either offensive or has objectionable content.

Oftentimes, if I come home after a hard day at work, not physically tired but mentally exhausted, the perfect thing for me is to turn on a television show that doesn't require too much thinking, its just fun and that is what Gilligan's Island is for me. It is a very welcome stress reliever to come home and spend thirty minutes laughing and getting rid of the stress of the day.

It is truly a classic television show because of the stories; the theme song and the cast and their chemistry. Everything is a perfect blend.
