The List of Adrian Messenger (1963)
Adrian Messenger: There's nary a conspiracy. And if I'm right about this, it's a far older sin than politics.
Marquis of Gleneyre: Had a brother who went to America once. Canada, actually. Before the first German war. Suppose he's dead by now. Almost everyone is.
Cameo: I protest this cruel and inhumane activity. Sir
Cameo: . don't you know the animals are your friends? Are you the master?
Marquis of Gleneyre: I am, Madame.
Cameo: Then call off this wretched business. What has the fox ever done to you? Why do you persecute him?
Marquis of Gleneyre: [Imperiously] Madame, the fox and I know more of life than you do. It is man's nature to hunt; it is the fox's to be hunted.
Marquis of Gleneyre: Good morning, Madame.
Raoul Le Borg: Your husband will not be alarmed that you are not at home?
Lady Jocelyn Bruttenholm: My husband's dead. He was killed in Korea with the Glouchesters.
Raoul Le Borg: And you are a widow all this time?
Lady Jocelyn Bruttenholm: Yes.
Raoul Le Borg: Apalling!
Lady Jocelyn Bruttenholm: I beg your pardon!
Raoul Le Borg: I am a Frenchman, Madame. I abhor waste.
George Brougham: [Referring to the plane crash] You know, according to the newspapers, there's a stromg possibility that the crash was no accident.
Lady Jocelyn Bruttenholm: If there was a bomb, it would have to have been put there by a madman.
George Brougham: That's the excuse they usually givefor evil. Hitler was mad they said. So he may have been... but not necessarily. Evil does exict. evil IS.
[He shakes his head]
Raoul Le Borg: [Referrung to Brougham] so, the masquerade is over
Anthony Gethryn: [sighs] Yeah, no need for disguises now. All that ended when the last name was struck off the list. All he has to do now is be his own charming self.
Raoul Le Borg: What arrogance... making himself welcome at Gleneyre!
Anthony Gethryn: Heh, makes it easier for him to get at the boy, hmmm, from the inside. You know, I hate to admit it, but I must confess to a sneaking admiration for him.
