The entire plot is a rip-off of the 1962 film "Carnival of Souls." That film is about a young girl (Candace Hilligoss) who died, but doesn't know that she died, and is being chased by a mysterious figure (played by Herk Harvey). SoulTaker is about a group of teens who died but don't know that they're dead, and are chased by a mysterious figure (Joe Estevez). In both cases, the figure is referred to as "The Man."
