Yet another William Shatner TV series is heading to movie theaters. This time, it's T.J. Hooker, the cop show executive produced by Aaron Spelling during his legendary run on ABC. Shatner didn't get to be in the recent Star Trek reboot, will he be in this movie?
T.J. Hooker revolves around a veteran cop (Shatner) who, after his plainclothes partner is killed in the line of duty, returns to the streets as a patrol sergeant. He's assigned to train academy recruits and is partnered with a young, headstrong rookie named Vince Romano (Adrian Zmed). Others in the series include Heather Locklear, James Darren, Richard Herd, and Hugh Farrington.
The series ran for two seasons on ABC as an hour-long drama before the alphabet network cancelled it. CBS then picked it up for two more seasons but assigned it to the late night "Crime Time After Prime-Time" schedule, running opposite The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

Beloved U.S. TV personality Ed McMahon has died at the age of 86.
The former Tonight Show sidekick passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
The veteran star had been battling ill health for some time. He was diagnosed with systemic bone cancer and spent time in hospital in February suffering from pneumonia.
His publicist, Howard Bragman, has confirmed the sad news, but did not give a cause of death, stating the comic had had "a multitude of health problems (in) the last few months".
McMahon began his career as a fighter pilot during World War II, serving in Korea throughout the 1950s.
He went on to work with legendary star Johnny Carson on daytime game show Who Do You Trust? and in 1962 the pair landed the job of hosting The Tonight Show.
McMahon spent 30 years working alongside Carson on the popular entertainment programme and was famed for his trademark opening catchphrase, "Heeeeeeeere's Johnny!". He went on to host hit 1980s talent show Star Search, and his other TV projects included presenting NBC series TV Bloopers And Practical Jokes alongside Dick Clark.

His recent legal woes included various lawsuits relating to mold at his Californian mansion and financial difficulties which saw him come close to losing his home after falling behind on mortgage payments.
McMahon is survived by his third wife Pam Hurn and five children from his previous marriages.

When Johnny Carson said goodbye to the Tonight Show after 30 years, he said, "I can only tell you that it has been an honor and a privilege to come into your homes all these years and entertain you. And I hope when I find something that I want to do and I think you would like and come back that you'll be as gracious in inviting me into your home as you have been. I bid you a very heartfelt good night."
Less than a month later, it was announced that Carson had made a deal to develop a new project for NBC. Unfortunately, it never came to be and the king of late night didn't return to television on a regular basis. Perhaps wisely, he felt he'd never be able to top what he'd already done.
Thankfully he did make a few brief appearances in the next couple years.

For this evening's final episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the host has promised a special episode. James Taylor is set to be the last musical act and Leno's successor, Conan O'Brien, will be his final guest.
There will also be something that's billed as "The Extreme Tonight Show Montage." Leno teased reporters last week that, "I have something really unusual and different planned -- something really out of left field that we're going to end on."
While we wait to see the last episode, it's hard not to recall how Leno's legendary predecessor, Johnny Carson, finished his run 17 years ago this month.
Carson had been considering retirement for some time, so long in fact that, when the announcement came in 1991, viewers were stunned. The final several weeks of shows were very special as guests and old friends stopped by to say farewell and beg him not to go.

Beloved U.S. TV personality Ed McMahon has settled a lawsuit relating to a 2007 fall which left him with a broken neck - just a day before the case was due to go to trial.
The former Tonight Show sidekick sued homeowners Robert and Kelly Days after slipping and falling on a staircase at the couple's Los Angeles home two years ago.
He took legal action for compensation over the "unsafe" stairs - and the lawsuit was due to be heard by a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge last Friday.
But the case was dismissed last Thursday after the two parties reached an agreement out of court, reports TMZ.com.
The news comes just weeks after McMahon settled a lawsuit stemming from the same incident with doctors at L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, after alleging they misdiagnosed his neck fracture.
Details about both settlements have not been made public.
