Trivia

Caje's full name and rank was Pfc. Paul Lemay, Kirby's was Pvt. William G. Kirby, Nelson's was Pvt. Billy Nelson. Littlejohn's first name was never given, and while Saunders on a few occasions was called "Chip" by soldiers who had known him in the past, including Lt. Hanley--who was in the same unit with him when both were NCOs--it was apparently a nickname and his real first name was never given. In season 1, "A Day in June", the D-Day invasion is told in flashback. Then Sgt. Hanley is addressed by a young lady with whom he was keeping company as "Gil" when the men are ordered back to their posts. See more »

Goofs

Under-chin helmet straps are hardly ever secured (fastened), and either just hang loose or are tucked inside the helmet. This not only violates combat readiness practice, but would cause helmets to constantly fall off during physical movement in combat situations. You can see this often happen to the actors in many episodes. See more »

Hard Hitting WWII Action Series

Combat!--A hard hitting WWII adventure series that featured top flight writing and character development. Frequently "guest stars" appeared in single episodes, for example Tab Hunter appears as a major league baseball player who eventually proves himself as a combat infantryman. Another guest star was James Coburn as an English speaking German soldier, disguised as an American corporal, whose mission is to infiltrate the American lines. The two lead roles of Lieutenant Hanley and Sergeant Saunders portray realistic combat leaders of World War II. This series represents the zenith in the careers of Rick Jason and Vic Morrow.
