Children on the island were allowed to miss school for the filming of one particular scene in which there is a carnival. The children were told they could play and eat as many hot dogs as they would like, then given a dollar at the end of the day. This is very sweet film! As a child I fell in love the novel about "Misty". I was fortunate to traveling to Virginia and witness the Pony Penning event. The horses were awesome and the film was actually shot on location and seemed very authentic! I viewed the film while on vacation and happened to run across it last night on television. I think I liked it even better this time around!
