Money and all the trouble it causes

Kultainen Vasikka from 1961 is the direction of Ritva Arvelo (her only movie). It shows us what trouble money can cause and harm the marriage.I read the original play by Maria Jotuni before seeing this movie. The cast does a good thing.Aino Mantsas plays Eedit Honka. It's nice to see Marja Korhonen (86) and her late husband Helge Herala (1922-2010) together in this movie. He plays Jaakko Honka and she his mother-in-law Katariina Ahlroos.Toivo Mäkelä is photographer Herman Ahlroos.Elina Salo plays Lahja Ahlroos, and I can see a lot of her voice-over character Pikku Myy in her.Jarno Hiilloskorpi does the role of Karhu.Irma Seikkula portrays Anna Aaltonen.Maija Karhi is Liina.Eila Pehkonen is Aliina, the servant.Joel Rinna plays Mauno G. Somero.Esko Salminen is Soldier in Photo Studio.Leo Jokela is Shop Assistant.Tarmo Manni plays Player Beggar.Elsa Turakainen is Player Kirsti. Also Uljas Kandolin, Leo Riuttu and Pentti Irjala are in this movie. The movie uses a lot of silent sequences, which works partly. This movie is not funny enough for a comedy. The drama works a bit better. But what I did find quite amusing whas the building up of the romance between Lahja and Karhu. She just decides she wants her, and she takes him.And he is more startled by her straightforvardness. But some of the female characters are quite cold there, just thinking about the money and not so much of their men.But at least they learn in the end.
