The story of the film is adapted from the Old Testament: The Philistines declare war on the Israelites and wrench the Arch of the Allience from them. Saul, the king of Israel, listens meanwhile to the words of the prophets who tell him that the new king will be a young shepard called David. Il pastorello Davide, prescelto da Dio per sedere sul trono di Israele, entra alla corte di Re Saul e ne ottiene i favori, creando disappunto in Abner, il primo ministro. Davide difende il regno dall'attacco dei filistei e sconfigge il gigante Golia, al loro servizio, con un solo colpo di fionda in mezzo alla fronte.
