Joe played good-natured storekeeper Ike Godsey on the CBS family drama The Waltons from 1972 to 1981. He was well-loved by his co-stars, who took to social media to honor his memory.

Actor Joe Conley died Sunday (July 7) at 85 years old. Though he had been away from the screen for a long time, he is best remembered as storekeeper Ike Godsey on the 1970s TV show "The Waltons." His death was confirmed by "Waltons" co star Mary Elizabeth McDonough, on her Facebook page.
Conley stayed with the show throughout its nine seasons, appearing in 172 of its 210 episodes, from 1972 - 1981. He also appeared on "Mister Ed" and even a 1983 episode of "Knight Rider." After "The Waltons" ended, Conley continued to appear as Ike in six TV movie specials, the last one being "A Walton Easter" in 1997.
Conley was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, before moving to California after high school to pursue acting, the La Times reports. He is survived by his wife, Louise, three daughters and a son. »
