'Shatner's World: We Just Live In It' Is An Unexpectedly Personal Show

New York — He doesn't beam in, but William Shatner does the next best thing at the start of his one-man Broadway show: He appears to the familiar orchestral strains of the "Star Trek" theme.

Then he soaks up the applause.

"Thank you," he says when it finally dies down. "You need an entrance because you put on a few years and a few pounds, nobody recognizes you."

Veteran Star Trek actor to debut autobiographical one-man show, Shatner's World: We All Just Live in It, in February

Galloping around the cosmos is a game for the young. Autobiographical solo shows on Broadway follow later in life. At least, they do if you're William Shatner, who, at 80, will bring his one-man show to Broadway next month.

The Star Trek and Boston Legal actor will start previews of Shatner's World: We All Just Live in It on 14 February at the Music Box theatre, where it will be followed by One Man, Two Guvnors.

The two-hour show, which promises to "take audiences on a voyage through Shatner's life and career", marks the actor's first appearance on Broadway in half a century, following his performance in A Shot in the Dark in 1961. His other previous Broadway credits include Tamburlaine the Great (1956) and The World of Suzie Wong (1958).
