Beautiful Film
Sgt_Pepper11028 May 2013
My father told me he had seen this film in 1962 when he was about 9 years old, and I saw it yesterday and although it had some technical problems such as a poor audio quality and a very dirty, grainy film, I enjoyed the warmth and simplicity of the story, it was very human and honest, with a great cinematography and amazing performances.

At first I thought I was going to see a movie for kids, but the camera work, situations and performances quickly dragged me into the story which has a lot of depth both in content and emotionally. Some might say there's a bit of political themes in this film, but it's not really propagandist or moralist at all. I recommend this for anyone who loves films like "Kes" by Ken Loach or "Little Fugitive" by Morris Engel.

Marvellous nostalgique

Warning: Spoilers
The thrill of your first bike, flying your glider like a kite, being reprimanded for telling the King he's naked instead of flattering and lying like the villagers, translation: being punished by mom for calling Uncle Petya an idiot; what a relief that this is recovered, which belongs to everyone, because this ephemeral childhood dream, no one dares to say that it was lacking in their own experience -even if it was mutatis mutandis-; Through the scrutinizing soul of Seryozha, Marianna's 5-year-old boy, Daneliya leaves an unforgettable aftertaste with her debut, with a Boris Barnet-like circumspection for detail and beauty amidst the raw day-to-day reminding me of Tengiz Abuladze. Sergey steals the film, he has his little heart like his neighbor friends, and when Dmitry Korneevich came into his life, who joined Marianna and was not okay with the gossip that a woman walks without a "muzhik" at home, immediately the administrator from the collective farm becomes the boy's best friend, instead of a stepfather. The least important thing was to fulfill his promise to give him a bicycle on Sunday with which the child counted the minutes from Thursday, but also defended the minor when Marianna punished him due to the visit of Uncle Petya who called the child in front of the mother, he asked him do you want a sweet? Seryozha nodded and when he took what Petya gave him, he saw that it was only the empty candy wrapper, the adult bursting into shouts of laughter in front of the perplexed child who only said, without frowning or raising his voice, but rather surprised, Uncle! Petya, are you an idiot?" Accompanying Korneevich to the farm in his work routine, the boy is amazed, especially after the animal has given birth and the employees are looking for him all over the field, adding that without his signature , the employees cannot be paid. "I want to be a farm manager" he confesses to his stepfather on his return; but later, like all childhood mirages, he will wish to be a sailor when amazed by the tattoos of the Captain who arrives Go for Vasiiya. The ending is excessively emotional, because Seryozha gets away with it and accompanies Korneevich and his mother into the unknown as they change residence for work. Aren't childhood memories the best? An enduring image of the happy boy hugging his toy in the moving truck.
