A young man is struck a few times; we later see him with bruises.

A boy is strangled offscreen; we hear his scream cut short.

A man is shot and killed.

In the cabin fight scene, men are shot, stabbed, and killed (somewhat intense but no blood).

A drunken man pulls a knife on the ship's captain but the captain pushes him away.

"damned"--when the captain and the highland rebel are parlaying.

A member of the ship's crew is shown drunk and he is physically violent when influenced by the alcohol.

Another character is obviously drunk when he asks for money.

Minor smoking and drinking by other characters.

The scene when a young man nearly tumbles to his death from atop an unfinished staircase may be slightly startling.

A young man comes across a very creepy looking woman on his journey to his uncle's house. She says that she has called down curses on the uncle well over a thousand times.

In one scene, a man carries a murdered boy away. The boy's pale form may be disturbing for some.
