Trivia

This Canadian Broadcasting Company drama went out live on April 3, 1956 to instant acclaim. A kine-scope was rebroadcast in August 1956 due to viewer demand to see it again. Hollywood took notice and the same script was used for an episode of the NBC series "The Aloca Hour" in September 1956. This version was so well received by the viewing audience and critics alike that Paramount released a feature film version in 1957 and later a CBS made-for-TV version called "Terror in the Sky," before the story was spoofed in "Airplane!" Reluctant hero saves the....night

I saw Flight Into Danger on Television..as a 9 year old in 1956. I pictured Dana Andrews as the WW2 pilot..on a flight in a DC6 I believe.. Weather, rough air...and a Flight Crew either incapacitated or dead because their in flight meal was "off." Aircraft did have a rudimentary auto pilot..probably not much more than wing leveler.....and the cabin crew and passengers were of course panicked.....Anyway, a WW2 pilot...single engine..was on board...had his own demons to overcome as well as strap into the left seat of that airliner...and somehow get it onto the ground......For its time, and having seen it again when I was in my twenties, the 'flying' scenes were realistic and the drama entrancing. The story line not so far fetched for the time period.....Catch it if you can. Dallas Reagh Rocklin CA
