Trivia

Though the original Panavision negative and prints were believed lost in a Universal vault fire, there exists a black and white copy of the film which is in the hands of a collector. It was taken from a worn 16mm film print. There is also a 2 minute color Panavision wide-screen trailer in existence, the only known color reference material for this "lost" film. See more »

User Reviews

Chartroose Caboose is one of my favorite movies because I know all about it from conception to the end.

CC was filmed in beautiful Oregon in 1960 by two independent film makers, Stan Doughtery and Wm. Red Reynolds. It was filmed with a great crew in Panovision, a special lens invented by Robert Gothchalk and used once before for Mike Todd's "Around the World in 80 Days". Buckanan and Pickens worked very well together for some good comedy and the railroad scenes were excellent for train enthusiasts. Little Mike McGreevey is now middle-aged and going strong. I would like to know how to obtain a video or copy of the film print of Chartroose Caboose. Does anyone know who to contact? Universal films was the eventual buyer-distributor of CC.
