Joachim Fuchsberger is frustrated trying to stop serial killings
23 June 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

"Die bande des schreckens" is a very good Krimi, with crisp direction, beautiful photography, and professional acting. A criminal has been executed but before he dies, he threatens revenge on a number of those who participated in the judicial proceedings. Sure enough, after he is gone, his threat starts to come true. Before Fuchsberger can solve the case, bodies are piling up. The police look quite bad. He meets Karin Dor along the way, and she too has her life endangered, even as he romances her.

Fritz Rasp plays the father of Fuchsberger. He is recognizable as an actor who made films in the silent era and beyond. He was in a good many films still available: "Metropolis", "Spies", "Threepenny Opera", "The Murderer Dimitri Karamazov" and "By Rocket to the Moon".

In "Topaz", Karin Dor made an impression as the Cuban lover of Frederick Stafford. Her career also is long.

The music is unique and has a whimsical flavor and unusual orchestration.

"The Terrible People" is a mystery detective story filmed in a noir style without actually being noir in theme or story. That will be enough for many noir fans.
