For the last time we meet family Suominen
Petey-1031 July 2009
It's the summer time. The family Suominen is at their summer house in Kesäranta. There are Aino, Olli, Pipsa, the twins Matti and Marja, grandmother Karin and grandfather Volmar.Only the firstborn Elina and father Väinö are missing. But the domestic Hilda is still there. The children are all grown up now.Olli has become a judge and is working as a temp for rural police chief. The family of a man named Aarne Lokka has bought the mansion of Saarenpää next next to the Suominens.Aarne is aware, that there is some uranium in the rocks of Pullinsaari. The rocks are owned by a farmer couple, but the husband Santeri won't sell them to Aarne. Then the barn of Pullinsaari is caught on fire, and all the forage is lost in the fire. This turns into a detective story, when Olli tries to find out who did it.At the same time some sparkles are flying with Aarne's sister Anita. That makes his girlfriend Laura jealous, who pays a visit there.Taas Tapaamme Suomisen Perheen was made by Toivo Särkkä 50 years ago, in 1959.This is the sixth and last movie of the Suomisen perhe series. It's a very fine ending to the series.Lasse Pöysti returned for the role of Olli Suominen one more time.Pöysti is an older gentleman now, but this is the role people remember him from the most. Also Maire Suvanto as little Pipsa has grown. After this she hasn't been seen in movies.I wonder what became of her.Elsa Turakainen does her part as Aino Suominen with class. It's sad we can't see Yrjö Tuominen playing her husband Väinö anymore, since he died in 1946.Siiri Angerkoski shines once again as Hilda Männistö.Aili Tikka makes a great and funny character as Iida. Both Iida and Hilda show some interest on officer Jaatinen. He's played by the great Pentti Irjala. The kids of the movie, Matti and Marja are played by Jyrki Lappi-Seppälä and Ulla-Riitta Jämsä.They're both great.Eine Laine does her grandmother role brilliantly again.Arvo Lehesmaa plays the grandfather this time, since Hugo Hytönen dies in 1944.Elina Salo portrays Laura Sorri very well.Matti Oravisto makes a great villain of the story.Marjatta Kallio is terrific as his sister.Matti Aulos is great as their father, manager Lokka.Unto Salminen, who played Elina's groom in the first three movies, plays engineer Kivi in this one.The couple Pulli are played by Arne Laine and Emma Vväänänen.I liked this movie, even though it's more enjoyable to watch Olli and Pipsa as kids. But it's good to know what became of them. This is also a nostalgic movie, watching that great group having cups of coffee around the table in the warm summer. The moments between Volmar, the dog and the goat are a lot of fun.I also enjoyed watching the brothers working together, playing detective in a way. They're in a rowboat diving a package of shoes Aarne threw in the lake. The spirit of this movie is still great.A great way to say farewell to family Suominen.
