The prelude to the cinema of Luis Garcia Berlanga
12 November 2009 | by (Spain) – See all my reviews

This excellent short film writing among others by the magnificent duo of filmmakers formed by Luis Garcia Berlanga and screenwriter Rafael Azcona, in principle was going to be part of a series that it would be titled "Los Pícaros" and it will not ultimately came to be carried out. This couple of artists, gave rise to masterpieces of Spanish cinema as "Plácido"and "El Verdugo" Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez interprets to '"Julián" a vulgar swindler, next to his cronies try sell a tram to a rich but little intelligent farmer newcomer to the city. The situations and scenes that are happening, are among the most fun. With this film begins this great stage of cinema of Berlanga to mix a little social criticism, a pinch anticlerical topped everything as a great farce.

Extraordinary performance of all actors. Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez is formidable in his character, like Pedro Beltran, Luis Ciges, Goyo Lebrero with a magnificent characterization of peasant, Jose Orjas, and among others the unforgettable supporting actor Jose Maria Tasso.

Is a short film that i think as a masterpiece of Berlanga..
