Trivia:

During the filming, Charles Hawtrey's mother would often visit the set. While enjoying a cigarette, she accidentally dropped lit ash from the cigarette into her handbag. Joan Sims who was the first to spot the incident yelled, "Charlie Charlie, your mother's bag is on fire!". Charles Hawtrey poured his cup of tea into the bag, snapped it shut, and carried on.

Wet Wednesday Afternoon

Teacher is possibly the gentlest Carry On, a sentimental tale that drifts along amiably. Ted Ray is the glue and nails holding it all together. Richard O'Sullivan was born to be a star. Leslie Phillips wanders through the film with his usual ease and charm - he might be acting or he might just be taking a stroll. Larry Dann turns up and is giving far too little to do for a fine actor and a gracious man. Joan Sims is wonderful, a clever actress who gets everything right. Charles Hawtrey and Kenneth Williams in drag at the same time is subversive, funny and brave. Teacher will brighten up the wettest of wet Wednesday afternoons.
