I liked it,but it needed more.
19 October 2002 | by See all my reviews

I watched so many of these films in the 50's as a child that it's nice to go back and see them again. While this film suffers in several areas, most of it linked to production value,it can still be enjoyable if you remember that it was produced on a small budget. The main problem being the sets are terrible. This was solved in the 30's with low lighting, but none of that is found here. All sets are well lit and the color is very good. The girls are beautiful enough to make you forget the sets for a while.Barbara Darrow and Lisa Davis are better than their parts and made me fall in love with them all over again. I wish that the writer had put in a photo of "Queen Yllana" before the disfigurement to let us see Laurie Mitchell without the make-up. What can one say about Zsa Zsa Gabor except that she was herself and that always seems to be enough.Paul Birch always did the best the part demanded, but seems to be less than enthusiastic here.Eric Fleming is wooden and best in his TV role in "Rawhide". Dave Willock and Patrick Waltz are the ones having the most fun with their parts and appear not to really care if the film is not top quality. After all this, I must still say that I enjoy this film each time I see it. Just take it for what it is,"A Drive-In Movie" from the 50's.
