This Is An Insult To Curly.
14 February 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Pie And Guys is a scene for scene, line for line, movement for movement remake of Half Wits Holiday, which itself was a remake of Hoi Polloi. This short is definitely not a good one. Why is it not good, because it's an insult to Curly Howard. Half Wits Holiday was Curly's last short, he left after that because of a stroke. With this short, it was like: "Well Curly was sick with Half Wits Holiday, I know! Why don't we remake it with Joe, as he's not sick!" This was a terrible idea, as it does shame to Curly, who although sick, was still hysterical.

And once again, Joe is as annoying as ever, and like he did in Guns A Popping, he tries to imitate Curly, and as usual, he fails miserably. In this short, every time he mugged for the camera I cringed. One redeeming thing about this is that Joe gets his comeuppance (somewhat) as he gets a lot of pies in his face. Sadly, this would be the last pie fight ever, at least Joe got what was coming to him by getting hit in the face with pies, serves him right for being such and complainer and an annoying and bratty person.

Warning: If you have seen both Hoi Polloi and Half Wits Holiday, then I would advise that you not see this short, as it's not funny at all. Well it sort of is, it's funny to see Joe actually get some abuse. I which Moe what have been able to hit him more, because it probably would have taught Joe a lesson about being not so annoying. And believe me, when I say that he's annoying, I mean he's annoying.
