This was Romy Schneider's first film in France. As she did not speak French fluently, she was dubbed by Gilberte Aubry who had already lent her voice to Schneider for the Sissi trilogy.

This movie inspired Stephen King to use the name Christine for his novel with the same title about a haunted 1958 Plymouth Fury. He choose this name because of the movie and the Plymouth both came out in 1958.
