A day, when a poor calls his door asking a alms, barks as if it were a dog to frighten, situation in the wake of which is transformed into an authentic dog, to the search for won the affection of any person.
The style of Frank Capra, the director Vajda showed all their talents in this comedy of touches supernatural, a film multifaceted: we find it in addition to comedy, drama, romance... Two years before, Ladislao Vajda left its mark in Spain thanks to his work more recognized, "Marcelino Pan y Vino" (1955), with the same actor Pablito Calvo.
Co-production Ital-Spanish directed by this Hungarian settled in Spain, which has a Spanish, Italian and English cast, and is ferries in the district to which the title alludes to the film: Brooklyn. The history places us in the New York district of Brooklyn, specifically in the area where lies a greater number of Italians and place in which is the great community of neighbours of the who owns the sad and miserable lawyer "Mr. Bossi" (Peter Ustinov). This mix of nationalities gives us a history enlightening and entertaining. The fantastic argument that presents us your story is narrated with elegance and style, proceeding in a way encouraging and with a pace that makes the viewer is not error in the history and save interest on the same at any time. In addition to the good work of Ustinov, to which we will see very young and still thin, also stresses Pablito Calvo and the good interpretation of Aroldo Tieri in the role of "Bruno," the assistant attorney "Mr. Bossi" and that makes the face romantic movie. The great actor Pepe Isbert, since his brief role is responsible for packing some of the times funniest of the film, he always moseys by the courtyard of the community and makes his small painting work.
A film splendid, we will enjoy throughout its duration with a good story full of excellent performances, with a brilliant ambiance in the heart of a shining Brooklyn and with a work canine exception: the dog "Calígola".
The film, in black and white, has a magnificent photography of Enrique Guerner, usual collaborator of Vajda, is a genuine work of art, copy, and facilitator of human values.
