This teleplay was based on the same true incident as the Alfred Hitchcock/Henry Fonda film, "The Wrong Man." It's based on the experience of Christopher Emmanuel "Manny" Balestrero, who was arrested and charged with armed robbery in a case of mistaken identity in New York City.
