Sex & Nudity

None

Violence & Gore

Much of the film is actually surprisingly bloodless. However, the scenes that are violent are very violent. Among these are the scenes of the murder of the lord -- the actual killing is not depicted, but there is a large amount of blood on the knife, and the chamber of ther murdered man is from that point in the film on irrevocably stained in blood. At the very end of the film, the protagonist is finally killed in a hail of arrows, with numerous shots sticking in him. At the end, an arrow pierces straight through his neck, killing him.

Profanity

The final scene, which shows Toshiro Mifune running panicked on a parapet while arrows are being shot at him, is fairly intense.
