Plot holes 

The authenticity of the alleged recording of Artie's voice, used to convict him of murder, was not checked by the DA or challenged by Artie's attorney during the trial. Only after he was convicted did Laura think of this and it was demonstrated to have been a phony recording.

Revealing mistakes 

When we see Candymouth Duggan for the first time, he knocks down a plank on the fence by the river. When the plank falls, the string holding it can be clearly seen.
