Storyline

U.S. State Department agent Kent Foster, on the trail of a murderous traitor, Nick Randall, hopes to trap Randall through singer/stripper Angela Booth. The latter has promised to marry Randall on New Year's Eve, even though she is not to see him until then. However, she lands in prison after a quarrel with influential Julius Lord, during which she defended herself with a broken mirror. Foster arranges for her escape, with the aid of "Granny" Ramsey,in the hopes she will lead him to Randall. The plan is snarled when another girl prisoner, with her infant, joins the escape and Angel slips away. She manages to meet Randall, and when he slaps her, she realizes that all she has heard about him is true. Written by Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>

Beverly Michaels has a rendezvous with Jim Davis, but she's in prison
13 September 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

"Blonde Bait" (1956) is sure to be liked by fans of Beverly Michaels. It has plenty of plot, and she features heavily in it. Her character is down to earth with plenty of common sense, and that's how Ms. Michaels delivers her lines, not glamorously. Jim Davis is her boy friend, but he's up to no good and she doesn't know this. Love is blind. A fateful incident with her manager (she's a performer) puts her in jail, but she's supposed to meet Davis before her 6-month term ends. We see quite a lot of women-in-prison life, British style, with Thora Hird having the biggest part. To see Davis, Michaels will have to break out. What's a prison movie without a breakout? But prison is not all there is here as it also is a modest thriller.

The plot will see you through this one, but the execution of it has some awkward moments and the pacing is uneven at times. This is why I rate it as below par for its type, which is the British b-feature crime category back in the good old days.
