Remake of 

Science Fiction Theatre: No Food for Thought (1955) (TV Episode)
Jack Arnold reworked this story of his, about a secret, desert-based artificial nutrient lab into a feature film of the same basis, only with the nutrient there producing deformed humans and a giant insect instead of "just" creating a deadly dependence on it in its users, as in the TV story.
